What is the best insurance option?
Most car hires provide third party insurance. You are therefore responsible for any accidents or damage to the car. You may opt for an insurance which covers cars during your travels. Car rental companies on Mahe provide a collision damage waiver (CDW) this is a cap to the amount of damages you are liable to pay in the event of an accident. This does not include damage to tires and glass, only the body of the car. You should always check with your card issuer if they provide a complimentary insurance.

Do you need a car in Seychelles?
A car in Seychelles is highly recommended as the bus system is not very reliable. Buses work off a schedule, when taking the bus from the main station in Victoria, they will leave on time. However, on a bus stop by the road, it may not arrive at the time provided by the schedule and may pass earlier or later. The last bus is at 7pm and peak traffic times (7-8am and 4-5pm) the buses are usually full. There is very limited space on the bus to bring luggage and shopping items.
What are the costs to renting a car in Seychelles?
Cars are usually rented at the prices advertised. Full insurance coverage is not always provided given that the insurance options in Seychelles are limited. You can expect to spend between 5 and 20eur per day on fuel depending on how far you go, if the car is a hybrid and how much aircon you use. Aircon will definitely increase fuel consumption. Fuel is currently around 1.50eur per liter.

You will avoid drifting off the lane or making the wrong maneuver whilst driving at junctions or round abouts.
